Book Release 8.13.07

with 4 comments

book releaseLike many academics, I have an addiction to purchasing used books. Combine that with the number of books I’ve gotten for required classes, and you have a space problem.

Realistically, however, there are only a certain number of books that I will continue to reference, and which make sense to keep in my immediate possession. With the Internet, library loans and so on, it doesn’t make sense to be a book hoarder.

Because of this, I am going to be giving away a book every time I purchase a new one, or at least attempting to do so. The idea is that if I haven’t referenced in a book in the past year, chances are that I won’t need it routinely in the future. I’ll be using BookCrossing to do this, but I’d like to try something first: below is a list of the initial books I am planning to "release." If you want one of them, leave a comment (your email address won’t be published, but I’ll use it to contact you about your shipping address). I only ask that you reimburse for the shipping, usually around $2.00.

I’ll leave the post’s comments open for a week and then release the books into the wild. So here goes…

*Clarification: You can have as many books as you want.  Shipping is on you.
